Relive the Magic, take the Magic home.
I love Reggie and the Full Effect. But, that’s not what this post is about. I was lucky enough to meet Earvin “Magic” Johnson tonight. That’s right, Freakin Magic Johnson!, one of the greatest players in NBA history. He was at Norfolk State signing copies of his new book. I’m sure it’s terrible, well, not really terrible, but something I don’t really want to read, but who cares? I got to meet Magic! Here’s proof:

Of course, the whole ordeal with the actual signing was a mess. I don’t really blame NSU, any more than I blame any of the other places I’ve been where somebody has done a signing. They weren’t prepared for the amount of people, and they didn’t have a consistent plan. This is just the kind of stuff you either don’t know about or don’t think of if you don’t set up autograph signings a lot. Whatever, I got to meet Magic, and he was really cool. And even though they were pretty emphatic about not getting anything other than the book signed, I managed to come away with this sweet USA card signed (which looks much better in person, my scanning skills are not up to par):

Personally, I think it’s awesome that I got to meet the dude (and even more so that he was really as cool as he always seemed). I’ve met a lot of superstar athletes, mostly baseball players, but I’m really having trouble thinking of a guy as eminently recognizable as Magic. That’s how you know he’s recognizable, you just say “Magic” and people know who you’re talking about. Dude was on the Dream Team. Good times, folks. Good times.
